Can I compost more food waste in a Hotbin?

Absolutely! You can compost all your food waste, except for large bones and oyster shells. Simply put your daily food waste in a kitchen caddy, then empty the caddy into your Hotbin when it's full.

How do I get help with my Hotbin?

I can help! If you buy a Hotbin through Compost Guy, I will be here to support you on your composting journey. You will also have access to Hotbin, the manufacturers for help and support.

Do I need the Plinth?

The plinths you can get for your Hotbin provide a stable base and raise the height of it by 5 inches which will help you collect the nutrient-rich liquid fertiliser from your Hotbin. The plinths are nice to have, but not essential.

Where can I get more bulking agent?

The 'bulking agent' that is supplied with your Hotbin is just partly composted woodchip. You should be able to find your own at local garden centres for around £5-£6 per bag.

Can I put lots of garden waste in thje Hotbin?

You can put in garden waste, but you need to ensure that the food and garden waste is balanced. It's also very helpful to chop up the garden waste.

Any tips?

My little tip is to shred paper and add that in if you do not have much garden waste to put in. I also rip up cardboard to increase the amount of waste I compost. this also helps reduce water content from the food and keep air-pockets present.
