Highlighting Play It Green to Our Community

Why We’re Highlighting Play It Green to Our Community

At Compost Guy, our focus has always been on reducing waste, improving soil health, and helping people take practical steps that genuinely make a difference.

Composting food waste does exactly that. It cuts emissions, returns nutrients to the soil, and keeps valuable resources out of landfill. It is a powerful action in its own right.

From time to time, we also choose to highlight other initiatives that align with our values, not because we are selling anything to our customers, but because we believe our community deserves to know about credible ways to do more if they choose to.

That is why we are sharing Play It Green.

What this is – and what it is not

To be clear, this is not a scheme run by  Compost Guy.

We are not adding anything at checkout.
We are not asking customers to donate.

This is simply us using our platform to introduce Play It Green to our community as an optional, independent way to support wider environmental and social impact.

Why Play It Green stood out

We are careful about what we associate our name with. Play It Green stood out because of the way it approaches impact.

Play It Green is a certified B Corp and an award-winning sustainability platform. All nature repair projects are transparently measured and publicly reported, with planting and restoration data protected using blockchain technology. This means impact can be verified rather than taken on trust.

Importantly, their projects are designed around long-term outcomes, not one-off gestures. Nature repair work supports Indigenous and local communities through stable, long-term employment in regions including Tanzania, Senegal, Kenya, and Canada.

This combination of transparency, verification, and community benefit is why we are comfortable highlighting them.

What Play It Green does

Play It Green is built around a simple three-part approach:

  • Reduce – helping people and businesses lower their environmental impact through practical education, clear signposting, and ongoing behaviour change support.
  • Repair – supporting verified nature repair projects, which may include trees, mangroves, sea kelp, and other ecosystem restoration.
  • Regive – committing a fixed percentage of revenue to social causes.

While tree planting is one visible outcome, it is part of a broader system designed to create measurable environmental and social value.

Why we are sharing this with you

Composting already delivers meaningful environmental benefits. Nothing about our service needs to change.

This article simply exists for anyone in our community who wants to explore additional ways to support nature repair or social causes, independently of The Compost Guy.

There is no pressure and no expectation. Just information and choice.

As always, thank you for being part of a community that cares about reducing waste and doing things properly.

Disclaimer - I received nothing for this post, no products, no payment or benefit of any kind. I just like helping good causes.
